Nobody Clicks Page Two. Here's What That Means for You.
September 2, 2026
Seventy-five percent. That's how many people never scroll past Google's first page. And for local searches on mobile? It's even worse because Google shows the Map Pack, ads, and organic results all competing for a tiny screen. If you're not visible immediately, you don't exist.
I checked this with a roofing company in Moncton last year. They were ranking position 11 for "roofer Moncton." Literally the first result on page two. They were getting zero organic traffic from that keyword. Zero. Position 10 was getting about 2% of clicks. Position 11 might as well have been position 200.
The cliff is real
It's not a gradual decline. It's a cliff. Positions 1 through 3 get roughly 55% of all clicks. Positions 4 through 10 split about 20%. Everything below? Crumbs. The difference between position 10 and position 11 is the difference between getting some business and getting none.
What this means practically
If you're currently on page two for your most important keywords, you need to either invest in getting to page one or accept that organic search isn't contributing to your business at all right now.
The good news is that going from page two to page one in Atlantic Canada often requires less work than people think. Your competitors on page one usually got there by default, not because they're actively doing SEO. A few months of proper optimization can leapfrog them.
But page two? That's the graveyard. Don't stay there. Either push to page one or focus your energy on the Map Pack where the ranking factors are slightly different and the competition might be lighter.
