Do This Right Now: Ask ChatGPT About Your Business

This takes 30 seconds and I guarantee it'll either make your day or ruin it. Open ChatGPT (free version works fine). Type:

"Who is the best [your trade] in [your city]? What do you know about [your company name]?"

Two questions. See what comes back.

Scenario 1: You're recommended

Great. You're already winning. AI knows about you and likes what it sees. Don't get complacent though. Check again in a month. These things shift. Keep building your online presence.

Scenario 2: Your competitor is recommended

Now you know who you need to beat. Look at their online presence. How many reviews do they have? What does their website look like? Where are they listed online? That's your roadmap.

Scenario 3: AI says "I don't have enough information"

This is the most common result for businesses in Atlantic Canada. It means your online footprint is too thin for AI to form an opinion about you. You're invisible.

This is fixable. More reviews, more detailed website content, more directory listings, more consistency across the web. Give AI something to work with.

Scenario 4: AI gets things wrong about you

Sometimes AI will say you do services you don't offer, or list your location wrong. This happens when your online information is inconsistent. Different details on different sites. The fix is making sure your website, Google profile, and all directories tell the exact same story.

Why this matters

Millions of people use AI tools daily. The number is growing every month. When someone in your area asks AI for a recommendation and you're not the answer, that's a customer you'll never know you lost. At least with Google you can see you're on page two. With AI, you're either the answer or you don't exist. There's no page two to scroll to.
